BACKGROUND

Childhood

Thomas Monroe Boon was born May 5, 1851 at Austin, Travis Co., Texas where his father was working as a contractor. As a young boy, in the Republic of Texas, he must have moved around quite a bit. By 1860, his parents had settled in the Bowie County, Texas area and were farmers - raising cotton.

Reams Family

Sally Reams was born March 1868 in Texas. Presently, I do not know her parent's names. She married first a Mr. Kerby before 1893 and had two sons, Jack Kerby born March 1868 and Curtis Kerby born December 1895. Sally died about 1905 probably in Antelope Springs, Texas during or shortly after the birth of her daughter, Fanny. On the 1910 Wilbarger Co., Texas census, Sally's two sons by Kerby are listed with Tom Boon.

We actually know very little about Fanny. It is unknown whether she married or when/where she died.

On the 1910 Wilbarger Co., Texas census, town of Vernon, Fanny is listed as age 5 with her widowed father and with some siblings and step siblings. She is also listed with an Eugenia Pool, a widow, agt 50 who is shown with a daughter, Lucille, age 15, and a son, Samuel McElwee, age 26. Relationship of Fanny to Mrs. Pool is shown as granddaughter - though I believe this to be in error.

Fanny's mother died about the time of her birth and her father died when she was 8 or 9. This picture was given to me by my grandmother, Minnie Leamer Mears back in the late 1960's. It must have been taken about the time her father died.

THANK YOU ALL!
