Mary Elizabeth Ahern  b.1910

Mary never married and stayed living in the home on Fountain Street until the spring of 2000 when she moved to Massachusetts to be closer to her younger sister Margaret and her family (see tree). 

She graduated from New Haven High School in 1928 (see pictures below). 

She then attended *New Haven Normal School. The picture to the right is from the school year book for 1930. (I added the colour)

In 1948 she attained her Bachelor of Science degree at New Haven State Teachers College and went on to gain her Masters in 1953 at Yale University.  

* New Haven Normal School, became New Haven State Teachers College in 1937, Southern Connecticut State College in 1959, and after 1983, is now part of the Connecticut State University System as Southern Connecticut State University.
