General Notes: Francis Xavier Pereira is the earliest member of this family that there is a written record by way of the marriage record of his son John Emmanuel - at Holy Trinity Church, Cannanore, in 1848. Francis Xavier Pereira was married to Natalia. His son John Emmanuel settled in Cannanore.
Michael Lobo, PhD, the current authority on Mangalorean genealogy mentions “According to one account, a member of this family, an interpreter, translated an important document for the Zamorin (ruler) of Calicut and was provided with land there as a recognition for his services”. He goes on to say that this may have been Francis Xavier.
This family is now widely dispersed with members in India, the UK, Australia and Canada.
