Hodgins Kindred Forever
Scanned Version

This page is an attempt to allow persons who do not have the book "Hodgins ... Kindred Forever" by Lester Hodgins a chance to view the book and also to show the sources for the information that was put into the database so that an eBook could be produced from the genealogical information. The original book by Lester was published in 1977 and is no longer available from any source other then persons who may have personal copies that they wish to sell. I do not know of any person that has copies. The full database on Hodgins descendants has been published at WorldConnect. No info on living persons is shown.

I do not have any additional photos or other information on the Hodgins lines other then what is shown in Lester's book or on my database at WorldConnect or at the following pages(Hodgins Photos, Hodgins DNA). Anyone who is a descendant of a Hodgins line is asked to contact me so that your data can be entered into the database and the tree is kept growing. Make sure when contacting me that you have the page number if your ancestral line is already shown in the book "Hodgins...Kindred Forever" by Lester Hodgins and shown  in the scanned pages at this webpage.

NOTE: For those who wish to produce a hardcopy print of a scanned page you will find the best method is to save the page to a special folder. Then close your browser and open the folder and set the view mode to see a small icon of the page. Right click your mouse on the page and a menu opens with one of the items that indicates Print. Select print and follow the Print Wizard directions. Full size pages are printed and no lines are lost as may be the case when trying to print directly from your browser.

NOTE!! The Index from HODGINS..KINDRED FOREVER has been translated using OCR  (PDF version, or  HTML version) these files are available for searching using either  a web search engine (this link will only search pages associated with my homepage and associated pages at Freepages.) or your PDF reader. These files most likely have spelling errors and you are asked to report these to me so that a new and updated version can be used to replace the one that is shown at the present time. Note: when using the web search engine from my homepage, it will find only one entry in the HTML version of HKFbLH Index which is an advantage rather then finding numerous entries then go to that page and use the search on that page from your browser to find the actual entry or any others that may exist.

The eBook also called HKF has a number of stray Hodgins names where the parents are unknown. These persons have been made into a list of Hodgins Strays and any one who knows who the parents are for any of the names is asked to please contact me at my email address.

NOTICE:
If you are searching for your Hodgins ancestral line then I would suggest the following approach:

  1. Fully document the information that you have on yourself i.e. full date of birth and location.

  2. Names of siblings including dates of birth and location

  3. Full names of parents, dates of birth, marriage, and death if they are deceased. Include full information on locations of these events

  4. Any other important information i.e. immigration dates if the person immigrated to a different country.

  5. Work back in time to your grandparents and do the same thing. Now that you have this information attempt to find your connection to the families listed in the scanned document HKFbLH. Once you have found your connection this way then don't waste your time trying to search back in time to find the next generation as that may be available from the database at WorldConnect. If you don't find the names in this database then please email me . In the subject section of your email after the HKF- add the Given name and Surname of your ancestor and the page in HKFbLH that you found them on as I use that to quickly find your entry in my database and the source in HKF if your family was included. When you email me, please include full information on your family line as indicated in steps 1-5 as that is the only way that I can verify that you have a connection to the Hodgins line as stated.

  6. Once I receive your information, I may ask for more details so that I can enter it into my database and include any sources that you may have used to determine that your data is correct and valid.

  7. After your data has been entered and verified then I will produce a new updated version of the HKF eBook, add your name to the Hodgins mail list and send the mail list the new password required to access the eBook. At the present time, this eBook is over 1400 pages. Since it has a full index then it is easy to find your data and your family line.

  8. If we are unable to find your connection to the main Hodgins lines then don't worry as I will add you as another Branch to the Hodgins lines so that your Branch is included. As more information is found then it may be possible to determine where your line connects. Don't use speculation to attempt to force a connection as that could be disaster as you need solid evidence to backup your claims.

  9. Another tool that you should consider when searching for your Hodgins roots is to find a male from your Hodgins line and have his Y-Chromosome DNA tested. This is a very useful tool that helps to either narrow down the possible branches of the Hodgins name that your line may descend from or shows that you are a new Branch. For more information on this go to the special Hodgins DNA page that shows how the different branches that have been tested show different DNA results known a Haplogroups. The more persons that are tested will add to the proof that the different lines are correct but different from each other. In some cases different Branches may become one as proof is found that they are from the same male ancestor as shown by Branch 3A & 3B.

  10. Good Luck in your searching and if you would like more information about how to go about doing genealogy research then go to the following page on Searching Your Roots  The main emphasis in all of this is to not use speculation to achieve the connection that you would like to have but rather sound research methods must be used.
