1 October 1797 – She was baptised in Bridestowe parish church (see parish register).
6 May 1820 - She was from Exbourne when she married Thomas Hicks in Exbourne parish church. She signed the register as Hannah Shobbrook (see parish register).
6 June 1841 - Aged 40 (rounded), she was living in Germansweek with (her husband) Thomas, (their children) Mary, Thomas, Phillip, Betsy, and Johannah, (her sister) Mary Spear and Susannah Spear (see 1841 census).
30 March 1851 - She was living at Coxwall Mills, Exbourne (see 1851 census): -

17 January 1798 - He was baptised in North Lew parish church (info from Thomas Peeke 16/4/11).
6 May 1820 - He was from Exbourne when he married Hannah Shobbrook in Exbourne parish church. He made his mark in the register (see parish register).
27 November 1820 - He was a miller living in Exbourne when their son William was baptised in Exbourne parish church (info from Sheila Howard 8/6/06).
22 March 1824 - He was a labourer from Exbourne when their daughter Mary Anne was baptised in Exbourne parish church (info from Sheila Howard 8/6/06).
13 May 1827 - He was a miller from Exbourne when their son Thomas was baptised in Exbourne parish church (info from Sheila Howard 8/6/06).
17 March 1830 - He was a miller from Hatherleigh when their son Phillip was baptised in Hatherleigh parish church (LDS Familysearch web-site).
15 September 1833 - He was a miller from Okehampton when their daughter Betsy was baptised in North Lew parish church (LDS Familysearch web-site).
26 February 1837 - He was a miller living at Kigbear Mill when their daughter Joanna was baptised in Okehampton parish church (info from Linda 16/4/11).
6 June 1841 - He was a miller aged 40 (rounded) living in Germansweek with (his wife) Anna, (their children) Mary aged 15, Thomas aged 14, Phillip aged 10, Betsy aged 7, and Johannah aged 5, Mary Spear aged 30 (rounded) and Susannah Spear aged 7 (see 1841 census).
30 March 1851 - He was a married miller aged 54 visiting Tristram Woolridge, a farmer, and family in Grindon, North Lew (see 1851 census).

ANN SHOBROOKE (daughter of Joseph and Joanna Shobrooke)

20 October 1799 - She was baptised in Coldridge parish church (see parish register).
6 June 1841 - She was a female servant aged 40 (rounded) living at Laurel Cottage, Exbourne, with Catherine and Ann Bate (see 1841 census).
30 March 1851 - See the census extract with her father Joseph in Part 3.
5 April 1860 - She was to receive three pounds under the terms of the will of her Uncle James Shobbrook. He knew her as Nancy (see JS’s will).
7 April 1861 - Aged 61, she was living in a cottage in Exbourne (see 1861 census).
29 June 1867 - She was a farm servant aged 67 when she died of consumption at Exbourne (death certificate).
1 July 1867 - Thomas Shobbrook, who had been in attendance at her death, notified the registrar (death certificate).
2 July 1867 – She was from Exbourne when she was buried aged 67 at Exbourne parish church (see parish register).

RICHARD SHOBBROOK (son of Joseph and Joanna Shobbrook)

17 August 1802 - He was baptised in the parish church at Exbourne (see parish register).
30 August 1826 - He was a blacksmith from Exborn when he married Mary Lock in the parish church at Dolton with the consent of parents. He signed his name in the register (see parish register).
10 June 1827 - He was a blacksmith living in Exbourne when their son John was baptised at Exbourne (see parish register).
26 July 1829 - He was a blacksmith when their daughter Mary was baptised in Exbourne parish church (info from Sheila Howard 25/8/06).
8 April 1832 - He was a blacksmith living in Exbourne when their son William was baptised in the parish church at Exbourne (see parish register).
12 December 1834 - Their daughter Anne Elizabeth was baptised in Okehampton parish church (IGI).

12 February 1843 - Their son Joseph was baptised in Okehampton parish church (IGI).
C 1844/45 - Their son Thomas was born in Okehampton (see 1851 census).

7 April 1861 - He was a smith aged 57 living in Melden, Okehampton, with his wife Mary and children Thomas, a parish pauper aged 15, and Joanna, a scholar aged 8 (see 1861 census).
2 April 1871 - He was a blacksmith aged 68 living in Meldon village, Okehampton, with his wife Mary, their children Joseph aged 27 and Thomas aged 23, both limestone quarrymen, and Thomas Ball, a lodger (see 1871 census).
3 April 1881 - He was a widower aged 75 lodging with William and Susan Chowings and their family in Meldon, Okehamptom (see 1881 census).
16 September 1881 - He was a blacksmith aged 79 when he died of senile decay and paralysis of the larynx in Meldon, Okehampton (death certificate).
17 September 1881 - Hannah Gliddon, who had been present at his death, advised the registrar (death certificate).

MARY SHOBROOK (NÉE LOCK) (daughter of Richard and Mary Lock)

8 April 1810 - She was baptised in the parish church at Dolton, Devon (see parish register).
30 August 1826 - She married Richard Shobrook with the consent of parents in the parish church at Dolton. She signed her name in the register (see parish register).
6 June 1841 - Aged 30, she was living in Meldon, Okehampton, with (her husband) Richard and (their children) Ann and Richard (see 1841 census).
30 March 1851 - She was living in Meldon, Okehampton with her husband and children (see the census entry above).
7 April 1861 - Aged 53, she was living in Melden, Okehampton, with her husband Richard and children Thomas and Joanna (see 1861 census).
2 April 1871 - Aged 59, she was living in Meldon village, Okehampton, with her husband Richard, their children Joseph and Thomas, and Thomas Ball, a lodger (see 1871 census).
6 September 1871 - She died aged 63 in Meldon, Okehampton, of ascitis and exhaustion (two months) (death certificate).
7 September 1871 - Hannah Gladon of Meldon, who had been present at her death, notified the registrar (death certificate).

10 June 1805 - He was baptised in the parish church at Exbourne (see parish register).

28 May 1809 - She was baptised in St Mary's parish church, Exbourne (see parish register).
5 December 1830 - She was from Plymouth when she married William Spear in St Andrew's parish church, Plymouth. She made her mark in the register (see parish register).
6 June 1841 - Aged 30, rounded, she was staying with (her sister) Anna Hicks and family in Germansweek. Her daughter Susanna aged 7 was with her (see 1841 census).
30 March 1851 - Aged 42, she was living in Carvada Green Lezant with her husband William and children Susanna, Louisa, Richard and Mary (see 1851 census).
7 April 1861 - Aged 52, she was living with her husband William in Bratton Hill, Bratton Clovelly (see 1861 census).
2 April 1871 - She was a widow and a pauper aged 62 living in Bratton Clovelly with her son Richard, an agricultural labourer aged 31 (see 1871 census).
31 December 1877 - She was the widow of William Shobbrook Spear, an agricultural labourer, when she died at Ellacott, Brattonclovelly, aged 68, of heart disease and dropsy (death certificate).
1 January 1878 - Her son Richard Spear of Ellacott, Brattonclovelly, who had been on attendance at her death, notified the registrar (death certificate).

1 January 1805 - He was baptised in Eggesford parish church (see parish register).
5 December 1830 - He was from Plymouth when he married Mary Shobbrook in St Andrew's parish church, Plymouth. He made his mark in the register (see parish register).
1 April 1831 - He was a yeoman from Ugborough when their daughter Susanna was baptised in Charles parish, Plymouth (LDS Familysearch web-site).
1 February 1835 - He was a small farmer from Little Comfort when their daughter Louisa was baptised in Lezant parish church (see parish register).
8 April 1838 - He was a small farmer from Little Comfort when their son Richard was baptised in Lezant parish church (see parish register).
6 June 1841 - He was a farmer aged 30 (rounded) living at Potsford, Lezant with (his children) Luisa aged 5 and Richard aged 3, servants William Jasper and Eliza Bartlett, and Mary Symons, a mantua maker aged 25 (see 1841 census).
29 June 1845 - He was a small farmer from Little Comfort when their daughter Mary was baptised in Lezant parish church (see parish register).
30 March 1851 - He was a farmer, employing no labourers, aged 46 living in Carvada Green, Lezant with his wife Mary and children Susanna aged 20, Louisa aged 16, Richard aged 13 and Mary aged 5 (see 1851 census).
7 April 1861 - He was an agricultural labourer aged 56 living with his wife Mary in Bratton Hill, Bratton Clovelly (see 1861 census).
Pre 2 April 1871 - He died.
March qtr 1871 - The death of a William Spear aged 66 was registered in Okehampton (Free BMD GRO ref 5b 297).

11 February 1817 - She was baptised in Broadwood Kelly parish church. Her father was a labourer (info from Linda Garnett 11/8/04).
30 January 1839 - She was of full age and living in Oakhampton St when she married Joseph Shobbrook in the parish church of St Thomas, Devon. She signed her name in the register. Her father John was a labourer (marriage certificate).

7 April 1861 - She was a housekeeper and a widow aged 42 living at 20 Nelson St, Plymouth with her children Elizabeth aged 17, Thomas aged 15, Ellen aged 9,and James Baker aged 2 (see 1861 census).
2 April 1871 - She was a nurse and a widow aged 57 living/working with the Salmon family at 4 Cobourg St, St Andrew, Plymouth (see 1871 census).
3 April 1881 - She was a widowed charwoman aged 67 and living with her son Joseph T, a widower and a dock labourer aged 35, and his children John T and Sidney G H Shobbrook at 23 Well St, Plymouth (see 1881 census).
5 April 1891 - She was a widowed charwoman aged 77 living with her grand-daughter Blanche at 23 Well St, St Andrews, Plymouth (see 1891 census).
21 January 1893 - She died aged 75 at 23 Well St, Plymouth of chronic bronchitis and exhaustion. Her son J T Shobbrook of 24 Cambridge Lane West, Plymouth, who had been present at her death, advised the registrar (death certificate).

6 June 1841 - Aged 20 (rounded) he was living with his parents in Exbourne (see 1841 census).
20 April 1843 - He was a blacksmith of full age living in Exbourne when he married Anne Quick in the parish church at Black Torrington, Devon. He signed his name in the register (marriage certificate).
7 January 1844 - He was a blacksmith living in Exbourne when their daughter Elizabeth was baptised in the parish church at Exbourne (see parish register).
7 September 1845 - He was a blacksmith living in Exbourne when their daughter Mary was baptised in the parish church at Exbourne (see parish register).
