JOSEPH SHOBBROOK (son of Joseph and Frances Shobbrook)

8 July 1878 - He was born at Wares Buildings, St Thomas, Exeter (birth certificate).
20 August 1878 - He died, aged 6 weeks, of hereditary syphilis, at Wares Buildings, St Thomas (death certificate).
24 August 1878 - He was from St Thomas when he was buried aged 6 weeks in plot 83 of the Exeter Corporation cemetery at St Thomas (see record card).

ERNEST JOHN SHOBBROOK (son of Joseph and Frances Shobbrook)

20 July 1879 - He was born in Wares Buildings, St Thomas, Exeter (birth certificate).
27 August 1879 - He was baptised in the parish church of St Thomas, Exeter (see parish register).

3 April 1881 - Aged 1, he was living with his parents and Uncle John, Joseph's brother, in Victoria Cottages, St Mary Steps, Exeter (see 1881 census).
5 April 1891 - He was a scholar aged 11 living at 25 South View Rd, Twerton, with his parents and siblings Ethel M, Joseph T, and William H (see 1891 census).
31 March 1901 - He was a butcher's assistant aged 21 living at 27 Triangle, Twerton, Bath with his parents and siblings (see 1901 census).
5 August 1907 - He married Caroline Maud Watkins in St Mary's Church, Calne, Wiltshire (marriage certificate).
16 December 1908 - he was a journeyman carpenter living at 1 Fieldings Terrace, Twerton when his wife registered the birth of their daughter Ivy Frances (IFS's birth certificate).
2 April 1911 - He was living at 41 Midland Rd, Bath. He had very bad eyesight (see 1911 census): -

1 November 1915 - He was a house carpenter's labourer living at 23 Dartmouth Ave, Bath when his wife registered the birth of their son Ronald Ernest (RES's birth certificate).

28 April 1932 - His mother Frances Shobbrook left him £300 and a share of the balance of her estate after the payment of various funeral etc expenses and bequests in her will (see will).
He was blind during the later stages of his life.
29 July 1956 - he died, aged 77, of a cerebral haemorrhage and arterio sclerosis, in St James' Hospital, Devizes (death certificate).
31 July 1956 - W O Parry, his son-in-law, advised the registrar of his death (death certificate).
2 August 1956 - He was a retired carpenter from 43 Penn Hill Rd, Calne, when he was buried in plot G39 of Curzon St cemetery, Calne (see burial register.

CAROLINE MAUD SHOBBROOK (NÉE WATKINS) (daughter of Thomas Watkins)

5 August 1907 - She married Ernest John Shobbrook in St Mary's parish church, Calne (marriage certificate).

21 July 1953 - She was a housewife aged 65 from 43 Curzon St, Calne, when she was buried in plot G39 of Curzon St cemetery, Calne (see burial register).

ETHEL MAY SHOBBROOK (daughter of Joseph and Frances Shobbrook)

6 November 1881 - she was born at Commercial Rd, Exeter (birth certificate).
16 December 1881 - she was baptised in the parish church of St Mary Steps, Exeter (see parish register).

5 April 1891 - She was a scholar aged 9 living at 25 South View Rd, Twerton, with her parents and siblings Ernest J, Joseph T, and William H (see 1891 census).
? - She gave her mother a tea service (see her mother’s will).
25 November 1899 - she died, aged 18, at 25 Denmark Rd, Twerton, Bath, Somerset (death certificate).

JOSEPH THOMAS SHOBBROOK (son of Joseph and Frances Shobbrook)

26 February 1887 - He was born at 5 Artizans Buildings, Rack St, Exeter (birth certificate).
5 April 1891 - He was a scholar aged 4 living at 25 South View Rd, Twerton, with his parents and siblings Ethel M, Ernest J, and William H (see 1891 census).
31 March 1901 - He was a corset machine worker aged 14 living at 27 Triangle, Bath with his parents and siblings (see 1901 census).
2 April 1911- He was a fitters engineer in an ironworks aged 24 living with his parents and his brother William Henry at 41 Triangle, Oldfield Park, Bath (see 1911 census and table under his father).
14 March 1914 - He was an engine fitter aged 26 living at 12 Clark St, Moorpark, Renfrew when he married Janet S Ryrie at 19 Howard St, Glasgow (marriage certificate).
12 January 1932 - He was living with his parents at 27 Triangle, Bath when he was present at the death of his father. He advised the registrar of his death the same day (JS's death certificate).
28 April 1932 - He was an engineer living at 7 Shaftesbury Avenue, Bath when he was granted probate of his mother’s will, along with his brother William Henry Shobbrook and Henry Charles Cyril Lee, a solicitor. He was bequeathed a share of his mother’s estate after the deduction of the various funeral etc expenses and bequests (see will and probate).
24 January 1948 - He was an engineers fitter at an aircraft works living at 62 Southfield Avenue, Kingswood, Bristol when he died aged 59 on an omnibus in Hanham Rd, Kingswood, of angina pectoris, atherosclerosis and chronic bronchitis (death certificate).
29 January 1948 - His son J T Shobbrook of 36 Wilshire Avenue, Hanham, who had been present at his death, advised the registrar (death certificate).

JANET SIMPSON SHOBBROOK (NÉE RYRIE) (daughter of James and Marion Balfour Ryrie)

20 March 1889 - She was born at 189 Murray St, Montrose, Forfarshire. Her father was a baker. Her mother's maiden name was Young (birth certificate).
5 April 1891 - Aged 2, she was living in Main St, Doune, Perthshire, with her parents James, a stonemason aged 35, and Marion aged 33, and her siblings Maggie McA aged 8, Marion B aged 6, James aged 4, and Agnes aged 1 month (Ancestry.com’s 1891 census transcription).
31 March 1901 - Aged 12, she was living at 20 Balkerach St, Kilmadock, Perthshire, with her parents James, a stonemason aged 45, and Marion aged 43, and her siblings Maggie aged 18, James aged 14, and William aged 4 (Ancestry.com’s 1901 census transcription).
14 March 1914 - She was a tailoress aged 24 living at 12 Clark St, Moorpark, Renfrew, when she married Joseph T Shobbrook at 19 Howard St, Glasgow. Her father was a retired baker (marriage certificate).
17 November 1972 - She was a widow when she died at her home, 23 Birdwood, Hanham, Kingswood, Gloucestershire from carcinoma of the rectum (death certificate).
18 November 1972 - Doreen Margaret Shobbrook, her daughter-in-law, of the same address, advised the registrar (death certificate).

WILLIAM HENRY SHOBBROOK (son of Joseph and Frances Shobbrook)

8 June 1889 - He was born at 64 Commercial Rd, Exeter (birth certificate).
5 July 1889 - He was baptised in the parish church of St Mary Steps, Exeter (see parish register).
5 April 1891 - Aged 1, he was living at 25 South View Rd, Twerton, with his parents and siblings Ernest J, Ethel M, and Joseph T (see 1891 census).
31 March 1901 - He was a telegraph messenger aged 12 living at 27 Triangle, Bath with his parents and siblings (see 1901 census).
2 April 1911- He was a draughtsman in an ironworks aged 21 living with his parents and his brother Joseph Thomas at 41 Triangle, Oldfield Park, Bath (see 1911 census and table under his father).
9 April 1917 - He was an engineer's draughtsman aged 27 living at 3 George St, Carlisle when married Beatrice Annie Hodgson at Heversham Parish Church, Westmorland (marriage certificate).
28 April 1932 - He was an engineer living at 5 Orfeur St, Carlisle when he was granted probate of his mother’s will, along with his brother Joseph Thomas Shobbrook and Henry Charles Cyril Lee, a solicitor. He was bequeathed a share of his mother’s estate after the deduction of the various funeral etc expenses and bequests and the tea set given to her by her late daughter (see will and probate). 2 December 1965 - He was a crane draughtsman (retired) when he died aged 76 at 78 Scotland Rd, Carlisle of congestive heart failure, aorbic stenosis and hypertension. His death was certified by E M Gaunt, the Deputy Coroner for Carlisle, after a post mortem without inquest (death certificate)
3 December 1965 - His son W J Shobbrook, of 78 Scotland Rd, Carlisle advised the registrar (death certificate).

BEATRICE ANNIE SHOBBROOK (NÉE HODGSON) (daughter of John Hodgson)

25 October 1890 - She was born at Milnthorpe, Westmorland (short birth certificate).
5 April 1891 - Aged 5 months, she was living in Harmony Square, Milnthorpe with her parents and siblings Margaret L M aged 13, Elizabeth L aged 11, Edward S aged 9, Ethel J aged 7, and Kate A aged 2. Her father was a maltster (see 1891 census).
31 March 1901 - Aged 10, she was living at The Royal Oak Inn, Milnthorpe with her father, John, a publican and farmer aged 43, her mother Mary, aged 45, and her siblings Margaret L M, an hotel assistant barman aged 23, Elizabeth E, an hotel assistant barman aged 21, Edward S, aged 19, Ethel J, an hotel servant barman aged 17, Kate Amy, aged 12, Mabel C, aged 7, and William, aged 3 (see 1901 census).
2 April 1911 - She was living at 24 Clift Terrace, Carlisle (see 1911 census): -

7 March 1976 - She died aged 85 at 78 Scotland Rd, Carlisle of myocardial failure, influenza and senility (death certificate).
