By the permission of Almighty God the ffifth day of Ffebruary in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and thirty seven I Samuel Pitt of Hankerton in the county of Wilts yeoman do make and ordain this my last will & testament in manner following Imprimis I do give and bequeath unto my Son John Pitt all my Right Title and Interest of in and to all my Leasehold Estate & Estates situate in the parish of Brokenborough in the County of Wilts To hold to him his Exes Adm & Assigns during all the term and Estate I have therein or thereupon chargeable nevertheless with such as are hereinafter Specified (that is to say) In case my wife Sarah Pitt Shall and do Surrender up her right & title in that part of the said Leasehold Estate that is Settled on her to my Said Son John his Exec Adm & Assigns Then my will is that my Said Son John shall from Such time as She my said wife Shall surrender up her right in the said Leasehold Estate pay or cause to be paid unto her my Said wife one Annuity of Ten pounds a year during her Natural life clear of all Taxes and payments whatsoever but in case my said wife shall not surrender up her right in the Leasehold Estate aforesiad then my will is that my Said Son John shall not be lyable to pay her the said Ten pounds a year nor any part thereof And after the decease of my said wife I do give and bequeath unto my Son Joseph one annuity of Twenty pounds a year to be paid unto him by my Said Son John for the term of Six years next after my said wifes decease. Also I do give & bequeath unto my Daughter Sarah the Sum of Twenty pounds to be paid unto her one year next after my Said wifes decease by my Said Son John and I do hereby charge Said Leasehold Estate at Brokenborough aforesaid with the payment of the Legacies before given and also with the payments of all Such Debts as Shall be due & owing by me to any person whatsoever at the time of my death (Except such debts as I shall owe to the Earl of Berkshire and Mr Woodcock), and as for all Such Rent as shall be due & owing to me at the time of my death for my Leasehold Estates at Brokenborough I do give & bequeath the Same Rent to my Said Son John Also I give & bequeath unto my Said Son John the Bed Bedstead and things belonging whereon he doth usually Lodge and all the Leasehold Goods that are in the house at Brokenborough that belongs to me Item I do give & bequeath unto my Said wife Sarah All Household Goods and Implements that were here before marriage which she usually calls her own Goods & Implements Item I do give & bequeath unto my Son Samuel diff (?) all that my Leaseheold Estate Situate in Hankerton aforesaid now in my possession his paying to his brother Joseph the Sum of Ten pounds wthin three years next after my decease and I do Charge my Said Leasehold Estate in Hankerton aforesaid with the payment thereof I also do give unto my Said Son Joseph my best bed bedstead and things belonging And all thereof & residue of my Goods Chattles and personal Estate not beforeherein bequeathed after the Death that I shall owe to the Earl of Berkshire & Mr Woodcock and my ffuneral Expenses Shall be paid & discharged I do give & bequeath unto my Said Son Samuel Pitt who I do Nominate & Appoint Exer of this my last will & testament hereby revoking all former wills by me heretofore made and confirms this to be my last In witness whereof I have hereunto Set my hand and Seal the day & year above written

This will was provd at Devizes July 13th 1738 before the Revd John Norris Ck M Park (?) Lawfull Surrogate of the Revd & Worshipfull Charles Naylor Ck D? of Lawe Chanl. Of the Diocese of Sarum And by him Admin of the Effects of the Said Testor was granted to Samuel Pitt the Extor within named being first Sworn to the truth of the will to perform the same and to Exhibit an Invty & accot when Lawfully required.
