WILL OF LYDIA PITT (WIDOW)

PROVED 3 NOVEMBER 1729

In the name of God Amen I Lydia Pitt of Brokenborough in the county of Wilts Widow being weak of Body but of perfect mind and memory praise be therefore given to Almighty God do make & Ordain this my present Last Will and Testament in Manner & form following (that is to say) first & principally I Commend my Soul into the hands of Almighty God Proprosing through the Merits & Death & Passion of my Saviour Jesus Christ to have full and free pardon and forgiveness of all my sins & to inherit everlasting Life And my Body I commit to the Earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executrix howafter named and touching the disposition of all such Temporal Estates as it hath please Almighty God to bestow upon me I give & dispose thereof as Followeth
ffirst I Will that my Debts be paid and my ffuneral Expenses Discharged
Item I give & bequeath unto Lydia Pitt Daughter of John Pitt All the Messuage or Tenement Commonly known by the name of Harris's with all outhouses Garden Orchard thereunto belonging or anywise Appertaining and all & Singular my Household Goods Stock Money Bills Bonds whatsoever & wheresoever which at the time of my decease I shall have Right Title or Interest in I do freely give & Devise unto the sd Lydia Pitt and furthermore it is my Will & Pleasure that my four Grandsons that is Samuel Pitt the son of Samuel Pitt & Samuel Pitt the son of John Pitt and Samuel Pitt and Simon Pitt sons of Simon Pitt to be my Bearers and lay my Body in the grave and for there so doing I do give unto each of them five shillings And I do give unto all my children and their child each of them one shilling to be (loried *) & paid out of my said Stock and I do hereby Nominate Constitute Appoint & Ordain the above named Lydia Pitt to be my whole & Sole Executrix of this my Last Will & Testament and I do hereby Revoke Disannull & make void all other Wills heretofore by me at any time made & doth declare this to me my Last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have hereto sett my hand & seal the third day of January in the year of our Lord 1728/9
