THE WILL OF ELIZABETH CROOME WIDOW OF BROKENBRO’

DATED 24 MARCH 1754

By the Permission of Almighty God this twenty fourth day of March in the year of our Lord Christ one thousand Seven Hundred and fifty four I Elizabeth Croome of Brokenbro in the County of Wilts Widow do make and Ordain this my Last Will and Testament in Manner and forme following that is to Say ffirst of all I Give Devise and Bequeath to my Kinsman Isaac Pitt of Brokenbro aforesaid Gent all that my Lease hold Estates Called Suttons Hay the Piece Bushy Hide and the Break with the Apputenanxces To Hold to him my said Kinsman Isaac Pitt for and during the term and Estate I have thereupon Yett to come and unexpired In Trust Neverthe less to pay and Apply the Same to the Several lives following and ffirst my Will is and I do Give to my Daughter Rebecca the Wife of Richard Garlick the Sume of three Shillings a Week to be paid to her weekly during her Natural Life by my said Trustee Isaac Pitt his heirs and Assigns out of the Rents Issues and Profitts of my said Leasehold Estates If the termes and Estate I have thereon shall so long Continue And in Case my said son in Law Richard Garlick Shall happen to Survive his Said wife Rebecca then I Give him the Sume of two Shillings a week weekly during his natural Life to be paid to him by my said Trustee out of the Rents Issues and profits of my said Lease hold Estates Also I do hereby desire my Said Trustee his Exectr or Assigns so Soon after my decease as the Rent Issues and profits of my said Estates brings it In over what is before disposed off to pay all my Just debts and so soon after my Debts and Legacies shall be paid & discharged to permit and Suffer my Grandson Richard Garlick his Exectrs Admns or Assigns to hold & Enjoy receive and take to his own proper use and Benefitt all the Rents Issues and profits of all my Lease hold Estates (Except as aforesaid) during the Remainder of the terme I have thereupon then to Come without Giving any Account therefore I Also Give to my said Grandson Richard Garlick All that Household Goods that fformerly belonged to him that he made over or Sold to me Also my Best Bed Stead Curtains Vallins Quilt and Sheet Marked R C I and also my Large Diaper Table Clothe and my Best Bolster All the Residue and Remainder of my Houshold Goods not hereby Disposed off I Give and Bequeath to my Said Daughter Rebeccah Garlick and my Grandaughter Elizabeth Garlick Equally to be divided between them Share and Share alike Also I do hereby Appoint my said Grandson Sole Executor of this my Last Will and Testament hereby Revokeing making Null and Void all former Wills and declare this to be my Last And my Will further is that if any person to whom I have Given any Legacy as aforesaid shall Cause my Executor herein named any trouble by Law or otherwise that there and in Such Case he she or they Causing Such trouble Shall be Utterly debarred and Excluded from and Legacy herein or hereby Given to them and that the Same shall Go to my Executor In Witness I have hereunto Sett my hand and seal the day and year above written

Lawful xx of the Revd & Worshipful the Archdeacon of Wilts & by xxxxx adxxx of the Effects of the deceased was granted & committed unto Richard Garlick the lawfull xxxxxxxx of the decd & Sole Extor within named being first duly Sworn of the truth of the sd will to perform the same & pay the decd debts & Legacies as far as the goods & Chattels will Extend and to Exhibit a true xxxx & render a Just account when requested Saving the rights of all perform within xxxxxx Not xxxxxx
