Their Story

Francis Jochem married Millie Felty and they had several children: John, Jacob, Conrad, Mathias, Felty, George and Valentine. They lived on what today is Long Island, New York. There they joined a colony of Dutch settlers who came from Holland to New Amsterdam (New York) on the sailing ship "Beaver", and after a time they went from Long Island to Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, arriving there in 1729 and later settled in Virginia on the South Branch of the Potomic River.

The Jochem family lived near the mouth of Muddy Creek in Greenbrier, County. Francis Jochem, some of this family were killed at the "Muddy Creek Massacre". After his death, Francis's estate was administered in Hampshire County, Virginia in 1752
