Crow Family Plot in Locklin
Cem, Milam Co., Texas
Is this the last resting place
of
Nancy Isabel
Crow-Castleman
????????
The parents, James & Sarah
Crow have similar whiteish headstones and their graves are marked
with a cement berm, to the right of James is a flat stone and a tree,
one of very few trees or shrubs in the entire cemetery, can this be
Nancy???
After searching many records I have been
unable to absolutely pinpoint the burial site for Soam's first wife.
I have been able to trace her parents and have even found "Sam &
Nannie's" original marriage license but no record of her death and
burial exists as far as I can find, this leads me to speculate on the
following.
Soam was reading for the law in Milam County
Texas when he met and married Nancy. She died there a few years later
near or at her parents home in San Gabriel, Milam County. Her father
died 5 years later and her mother 12 years after that. There are
nearly identical headstones on her parents graves, no marker shows
that Nancy is interred there; however there is a stone next to the
parents and a tree, one of very few trees in the cemetery, placed at
what would be the head of the grave.
I would pose the thought that Soam, being a
apprentice lawyer, so to speak, would not have had the wherewithal to
place an engraved headstone and placed a large flat stone there then,
planted a tree to memorialize the grave of his wife. Later the
parents were also buried there.
If anyone has better information on this,
please contact me and I will adjust.
