INTRODUCTION
Due to
the nature of genealogy, it is not long before a research into one's family roots takes
them to many places outside of their own birthplace. Ancestors reach beyond the bounds of
county, state, and even country. When deciding upon a name for this web page, I considered
calling it the Brock Family History; however, that was not satisfactory. While I am a
Brock, my family history takes me to many other surnames. Furthermore, I have approached
this matter of genealogy from the perspective of my children and how they would later read
all this information. With that in mind, I have included not only my roots but also my
wife's.
So, the title of
my web site is simple—My Family History. My journey begins with my
birthplace in Horry County, South Carolina. If your origins
are not there, take heart. Those who browse through these pages will discover the history
of many families, but particularly those located in the Carolinas—South and North.
While there are many other genealogy sites that are better that this one, I do hope you
will find these pages informative and enjoyable. Perhaps even a connection will be found.
If you come across something you believe to be in error or have problems with the links,
do not hesitate to contact me.
In the interest of privacy, I have
not included current information regarding living persons. Some do not like their personal
information made public, and I will respect that throughout this web site.
I have included, when possible, original records and sources of information that I have
gathered in conducting my research. Unless otherwise noted, I have copies or own the
originals of the information I have posted. Finally, let me express thanks to all who have
helped to point me in the right direction to locate my ancestors. I have lost track of all
the names. So, in order to avoid omitting anyone, let me just give a general expression of
gratitude.
