I recently discover a map on an internet page of Pearsalls which was a town in the 1870's which is now East Rockaway and Lynbrook, Long Island, NY, Nassau County.
This may was created in the 1870's and provides a snapshot in time of many families (Abrams, Pearsalls and Davisons) living in the area. Shown on the map is Rockville Cemetery.
I found it very interesting to see the home sites for my Great (C. Abrams) and Great Great Grandfathers (J. Abrams) homes. I even have in my possession the original deed to my Great Grandfathers home (dated 1875).
This deed is all had written and in very good shape. It is interesting to see actual signatures of many residents living in the area at that time. If anyone is interested I can scan the deed and place it on the Web Page.
These maps are in two parts. It is possible with a little image processing to reduce their size and connect the two pages on paper to make a print. Have a look, and if you have relations living in the area at that time see if you can spot their homes.
