Information regarding Revolutionary service of Robert Davison necessary for filling out papers for joining societies of "Sons of the American Revolution and "Daughters of the American Revolution can obtained from various records, is as follows, Robert Davison., born in England., l756 died in East Rockaway, N. Y. 17 December 1823, His place of residence during the Revolution was New London, Conn. Robert Davison served as seaman from New London on the galley "Shark", He enlisted 5 June 1776. This galley was built in Norwich, Conn. Being completed and ready for service in July 1776, she was ordered to Stonington Harbor as a temporary guard ship but later accompanied the Whitttng and Crane to New York Bay and North River, where she was captured by the British in Feb. 1777 or else set afire and abandoned to the enemy.
