Timeline:

1717: Family Bible records of Jacob, descendant of Robert, and dated 1855, "Robert Goble Esq: (long a magistrate in Morristown) was the son of said David [Daniel/David] Goble. Robert was born in England, except date not known here by us. Said that he was about 10 or 12 years old when he left England, or when he came with his father to Morristown New Jersey." [Citation: Provided by Archie Keith Goble, Ontario, Canada, owner of the Jacob Goble Bible] Since Robert was b. 1700 in Berkeley Colony, S.C., and his family went to NJ in 1717, he would have been about 17 years old, making him close to the age noted in the Bible. However, he had not left England at that time, but rather S.C. Interestingly, the story of England shows up in traditions of many Goble family lines, which, if we go back far enough, are true. 1734: Sept. 20, Robert along with siblings, Daniel, Jonas, Jemima and Alice, became heirs to land from mother, Sarah Houghton Goble, in Lancaster, NJ. Guerin] who was born and for not a few years lived in the neighborhood in question ~ that on the same side of the road leading toward Basking Ridge, but some little distance below the Robert Goble place, there is a family burial ground. Still farther down the same road, and on the same side, but lying at a considerable distance back from the road, is another family burial ground, sheltered by a handsome copse of trees." [Citation: "Historic Morristown, New Jersey: The Story of Its First Century" pg. 90.] Also [continued from 1783)...."The burying ground of the primitive Baptist Church of Morristown (whose commencement may have antedated several years the organization of the church) was situated on the opposite side of the road from the meeting-house, and a few rods farther north in the direction of the Morristown Green. This burying ground seems to have commenced at somepoint between the present residence of John S. Green [built by Rbt Goble] and that of Lewis P. Baird....in close proximity to the two headstones mentioned were two or three smaller stones....One of the two stones...about four feet in length by one foot in wiedth and three inches in thickness....bore no inscriptions, and probably never did."
