TE PUKE, BAY OF PLENTY, NEW ZEALAND

Te Puke is on the east coast of the north island of New Zealand, 30 kms from Tauranga and 55 kms from Rotorua. Te Puke is the "Kiwifruit Capital of the World". The majority of New Zealand's Kiwifruit is grown in the district. European settlement did not begin in the town until the early 1880s though Europeans had been at Maketu since the 1830s.

I would like to say thank you for producing a great book. I got one for my husband for Xmas, and he has sat for hours reading through it. Great for the real Te Pukeite. Comment from Trade Me.

At present (November 2008)I am researching for a book on the Settlers, Pioneers and Families of Te Puke and District for the period 1830 to 1910. If I have not contacted you please contact me as I may have information to share with you.
