When folks came to America, they had to be "sponsored".  These Braune were sponsored by the Zipps from New Braunfels, TX.  This Braune family sponsored the Hagedorns. These notes are from handwritten notes that I have and unfortunately, I did not write down who gave me this information.

Andreas Christian Braune married Mrs. Johanna Memminger 3/3/1911 as per Comal Co., Tx, License # 5429, as per Wanda Qualls ....also same info from Connie (Schneider) Krause, recorded here by GW.. 6/28/2002.

The Braune family origin is German. Andreas Christian Braune and wife, Maria Elizabeth Sophia Bergfeld were married in Germany in 1868. The parents of Andreas is unknown. Andreas was born 19 October 1844 in Germany and died 12 June 1925 and is buried in the Braune Family Cemetery in Zorn, Texas. Maria was born 7 January 1850 in Altenweddingen Preussen, Germany. Maria's mother was Sophia Bergfeld born 1818 in Germany, her father is unknown.  Maria died 14 June 1906 and is buried in the Braune Family Cemetery, Zorn, Texas.  Andreas and Maria's son, Frederich Jacob Christian Braune was born 22 December 1870 in Magdebery, Germany (of Saxon ancestory. Note that the Saxon are descendants of the pre-historic Germanic people). Andreas Christian Braune, wife Maria Elizabeth Sophia Bergfeld, and their son Fredrich Jacob Braune came to the United States on the German ship  "Hohenzollern" and landed in Texas prior 1894.



He was married to Marie Elizabeth Sophia BERGFELD (daughter of Unknown BERGFELD and Sophia [BERGFELD]) in 1868 in Germany.  Marie Elizabeth Sophia BERGFELD was born on 7 Jan 1850 in Altenweddingen, Prussen, Germany.  She died on 14 Jun 1908.  She was buried in Braune Family Cemetery, Zorn, Guadalupe County, Texas.  Andreas Christian BRAUNE Sr. and Marie Elizabeth Sophia BERGFELD had the following children:

He was married to Dorothea "Dora" SCHROEDER on 5 Sep 1916.  Dorothea "Dora" SCHROEDER was born in 1854 in Hanover, Germany.

Her parents arrived in Galveston, Tx 1880-1882, when Anna was 2-3 yrs old... Guss and Anna were later divorced..... Family verbal history states that they had several children who died in infancy..... Anna had 4 miscarriages between 1905-1918.  Recorded here by GW 10/4/2002.

Ida Braune quoted as saying "I am a true American" when she found out she was the first Braune child to be born in America -- as per Edna (Voss) Vann, one of Ida's daughter. Word is that Ida was really born aboard ship "Hor Salen" but on her birth certificate/ baptismal/marriage records needed a "place" as being born so Texas was listed on these records.

The property that Richard Voss owned in the Zorn/Staples area was owned previous to Andreas Christian Braune - Richard's father-in-law.  as per hand written  notes that I have, unfortunately, I did not record who told me this or where it came from.. Also my father, Edmund Voss, told me, that Richard Voss was the one person behind getting electricity out to this rural  area  where Richard Voss's home was located.
Other notes found on Richard Voss, from Edith Braune Beaird... Richard Voss was chosen as mayor of his community just before his death.

RICHARD VOSS

Richard Voss 62. died at his home near Staples, Tuesday, March 16, 1943 following a stroke which occurred earlier in the day.  He was born at Zorn, Guadalupe County, May 21, 1880, as the son of Mr and Mrs. Albert Voss. As a child, he attended school first at Zorn, and later at Centerpoint.
On January 10, 1903, he was united in holy matrimony with Miss Ida Braune. This union was blessed with seven children, one of whowhom died in infancy.
During their first few years, after their marriage,   the young couple lived in Zorn. Later they purchased a farm near Staples where they lived until his departure.
Although his health had become somewhat impaired in  recent months, his sudden demise came totally unexpected and was a distinct shock to his relatives and friends.  He terminated his earthly pilgrimage at the age of 62 years, nine months and twenty-five days.
Surviving him and mourning his departure are the following: The bereaved widow, Mrs. Ida Voss, three sons, Edmund of Schertz, Eugene and Monroe of San Antonio; three daughters, Mrs. Edna Vann and Miss Helga Voss of Schertz, and Mrs Burnice Noble of San Antonio; two sons-in-law, Dr. Joe Vann of Schertz, and Pfc. Earl Noble of the U.S. Army; three daughters-in-law,  Mrs Leonie Voss of San Antonio, Mrs Linda Voss of Staples and Mrs Vivian Voss of Schertz, thirteen grandchildren, two brothers, Willie and Albert Voss, Jr., five sisters, Mrs August Dreibrodt, Mrs Fritz Real, Mrs. Gustav Fischbeck, Mrs Fritz Loepp, Mrs. Edwin Meier. One sister, Mrs Gustav Schubert, preceded him in death. Also surviving are ten brothers-in-law; nine sisters-in-law: one uncle and other relatives and many friends.
Mr. Voss was a faithful member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Redwood. Funeral services were held at A.B. Rogers Funeral Chapel at San Marcos and at the  Zorn Cemetery, Thursday afternoon, March 16, with Rev. A. M. Fielder, pastor of the St Paul's Lutheran Church of Redwood officiating.
Mr Voss was a sincere, devoted and loving husband and father, relative and friend. All who knew him respected and esteemed him greatly and keenly feel the loss they have sustained through his sudden decease.

We can report from Zorn about the life of Mr. Richard Voss, who died on March 16, 1943 at the age of 63 years.
He was born in Zorn in Guadalupe County on May 21, 1880. He was the son of Albert Voss and his wife Friederike, nee Dietert. There he was baptized and also attended school there for the first years.  Later he went to Center Point. On January 10, 1903, he married Miss Ida Braune. They lived first near Zorn but later, he bought , with the help of his faithful wife, a beautiful farm near Galle. There he lived, loved and was honored by all who knew him, until his death.
He died unexpectedly of a stroke on March 16, 1943. In addition to his deeply mourning wife, he is survived by three sons, Edmund from Schertz, Eugene and Monroe Voss of San Antonio, Texas. Three daughters: Mrs. Edna Vann and Miss Helga Voss of Schertz, and Mrs. Burnice Noble of San Antonio, and two sons-in-law Dr. Joe Vann of Schertz and PFC Earl Noble, presently in the state of Washington with the army; Three daughters-in-law: Mrs. Vivian Voss of Schertz, Mrs. Leonie Voss of San Antonio, Mrs. Linda Voss of Staples; thirteen grandchildren, two brothers, Willie and Albert Voss, Jr; five sisters: Mrs. August Dreibrodt, Mrs. Fritz Neal, Mrs. Gustav Fishbeck, Mrs Fritz Loepp, and Mrs. Bertha Meir; ten brothers-in-law, seven sisters-in-law, and other relatives and friends.  One child Helmuth preceded him in death when he was small.
His earthly remains were laid to rest on March 18, 1943, through the Rogers Funeral Home in San Marcos, in the cemetery in Zorn.
Mr. Otto Bierstedt, Willie Ficke, Otto Dreibrodt, Willie Braune, Otto Braune and Julius Voss served as pallbearers. Pastor A.M. Fiedler of San Marcos conducted the services at the funeral home and at the grave site..

Death Held as Suicide

Suicide was ruled in the Friday hanging of William Braune, 88, of 138 West. Charmain Dr.
Dr. Ruben Santos, county medical examiner, issued the verdict.
Braune was found about 9 a. A.M.. by his wife, Ima, 70.
He was hanging by a chain from a tree in his backyard, said police.
A stepladder was near the scene, officials indicated.

He was buried on 20 May 1974 in Mission Burial Park South Cemetery, San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas.

He was married to Ima [BRAUNE].  William BRAUNE and Ima [BRAUNE] had the following children:

Funeral services for Dr. Joe V. Vann were held at 2 P.M. Saturday, April 10, 1971 in the Emanuel's Lutheran Chruch with the Rev. Daniel Schorlemer officiating. Burial was in the Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park under the direction of the Goetz Funeral Home.

Dr. Vann age 66, a retired naturopath, died Thursday, April 8, 1971 at his home, Rte 4, Seguin.  He had been a resident of Seguin and Guadalupe County for the past twenty-three years.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs Edna Vann of Rt 4, Seguin; one daughter, Arrowanna Newbery, of Biloxi, Miss., one son John Joseph Vann of Austin and two grandchildren; also his mother.
