"....there is a book on the Coombs family in the Maine State Library at Augusta, which traces the generations down from Anthony Coombs and Dorcas Wooden to the generation in which Horace would been located. One of the interesting things about the Bowdoin branch is that they are descended from Joshua Coombs and Elizabeth Pratt. Elizabeth was the great granddaughter of Joshua Pratt who landed at Plymoth Plantation in the third ship, "the Anne" in 1623. (David M. Coombs Families of New England Prior to 1700 Descendants of Joshua2 and Elizabeth (Pratt) Coombs

The Family of Elbridge and Abigail (Currier) Coombs - "....... Elbridge C. Coombs, son of Captain David Coombs and Sarah COOMBS, about Oct 1852. Elbridge was born 27 Apr 1828 in Bowdoinham, Sagadahoc, Maine. He died 21 Mar 1899 in Pleasantdale, South Portland, Cumberland, Maine and is buried in the Sedgwick Rural Cemetery. Elbridge and Abigail first resided in Bath (in 1850) where Elbridge was employed as a ship's carpenter. They moved to Augusta about 1865 and to Sedgwick in the 1870's. "Elbridge brought Abbie back to Sedgwick from Augusta in a covered wagon. They stayed the night in Belfast." (Elizabeth Carroll Parker)....." Possibly a nephew of Brown Coombs Generation One above
